China: New Chemicals Law Coming in 2016

The Chinese Chemicals Regulation (Decree 591) is being revised and upgraded into law, according to Xu Lu, a manager in China’s State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) who spoke at Chemical Watch’s Shanghai Chemicals Summit at the end of June.

The new law will regulate the handling of dangerous substances listed in the Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals (CHC). So far, some 2,800 substances are listed there; the catalogue was updated only last year and went into effect in May 2015.

Along with the chemicals law, a safety law is to be approved that covers topics such as work safety, environmental influences, and safe production.

Does your company export to China? To avoid damaging trading in your products, you must comply with market conditions and legal expectations. We would be pleased to advise you at sds@kft.de.
