In the United States, Aldi is becoming a brand that stands for healthy choices in shopping. The discounter celebrated its 40th anniversary in the United States last year. The company consistently looks toward sustainability in groceries and has banned products containing pesticides from its offerings as of January 2017. The ban covers the following eight pesticides:
Aldi is increasingly filling its shelves with ecological groceries and removing products that contain synthetic ingredients just as quickly. The company has truly hit the bullseye with this strategy in the United States, where it continues to grow (German only). Aldi now operates in the United States with more than 24,000 employees at 1,500 branches in 36 states.
The discounter is also demanding more transparency and sustainability in Germany. To keep up the pressure, Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord have joined the Business Environmental Performance Initiative (BEPI). One of the goals of the initiative is to improve chemical management among manufacturers and suppliers.
